Do you believe that there is hope after pregnancy loss?

As humans, we all go through things that we may never understand this side of heaven. Life can seem full of things that seem unfair.

Some people get diagnosed with terminal illnesses, while others lose loved ones earlier than it seems they should.

For me, one of those seemingly unfair things in life had to do with pregnancies.

Is there such a thing as having hope in infertility?


“Are you really a woman if you can’t have a baby?”

I’ve been asked this question, in one form or another, many times. It’s on the rude end of the spectrum, and I admit to responding with equal rudeness on occasion. But mostly, I get it. The general assumption, especially within the Christian community, is that woman equals one who gives birth.

Does Your Hope Lie in Jesus Alone?


Yesterday I listened to a TED talk about rejection. The speaker set out to face rejection for 100-straight days in order to numb himself from the pain and learn how to succeed even in the face of failure. I thought it a brilliant plan.

As a journalist, rejection and I go way back. It’s like going to any organized, group workout class: You feel awkward and embarrassed during it, it’s painful, you realize your weaknesses, but you learn and grow stronger from it. And so you know you need to try again.

My name is Rachel. Wife, mother, and the writer of this here blog.

In August 2005, I lost my daughter to a car accident that not only took her life, but also left me reeling with pain, questioning my faith, and groping for answers.

Through the lens of suffering, I've begun to rediscover what it truly means to have hope, despite life's hardships.
