Share Your Favorite Verse, and Explain Why
I know, I know. It’s hard to choose only one! But if you had to pick your favorite Bible verse, what would it be? What makes this particular verse so meaningful?
Let’s have a little fun today, and get to know one another a little more! Share with us your top verse below. Don’t forget to tell us why it’s your favorite. I’ll go first!
Although, there are so many verses that mean so much to me, (and for different reasons), one of my favorites is Genesis 12:1.
The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
This has been a “life verse” for me, so to speak. It is the one that the Lord uses again and again to get my attention, and lead me into new seasons.
Our family has seen some powerful testimonies rise out of this single verse. Quite the adventures Father God has taken us on!
Now, when the Lord begins to rouse my spirit with this beloved verse, it always sparks a certain amount of anticipation and excitement, and almost always requires a new level of faith!
Perhaps my favorite adventure associated with this verse, was when the Lord spoke it to us in order to get us to follow Him into a new land.. literally!
Upon hearing this Word, taking it to prayer, and receiving confirmation, our family put our house on the market, without having the slightest idea where we would go.
Our house sold quickly, after a month of being on the market. We packed our belongings into storage, and stayed with family until the Lord revealed our next step.
It was all a little scary, if I’m honest, but also very exhilarating!
After a short period of waiting, we bought a house in the beloved small town, where my husband and I first started our life together.
The Lord led us to this place, and through it He has fulfilled the desires of our heart. So many answers to prayer came with the purchase of this property. Too many to go into here. But let’s just say, our God does NOT disappoint!

Hi Rachel! One of my favorite Scriptures is Psalm 139. I love the entire chapter. From knowing God is “familiar with all my ways” to knowing I “could never flee from His presence,” it’s one of my go-to verses.

Love Psalm 139! It’s a beautiful, poetic chapter of God’s sovereignty and love. <3

I love that your verse is a rare one. What a great testimony of faith to have an adventurous spirit. Because I’ve been memorizing Philippians 1 for a few months, one of my favorite verses in this season is Philippians 1:6: “And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
Rachel Lee says
Lisa, isn’t that such a hope-filled promise?! Praise God that He watches over His Word to perform it!

Yes, I have so many favorites, Bible verses I cling to often. But I’m going to share my life verse. I met Christ at 16 and then in college I met other Christians who had a life verse. The Lord led me to 2 Chronicles 16:9a,
” For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.” (NASB)

Joshua 1:9 is the first verse to come to mind: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Karen, while I have so many favorites, I think the one that always brings comfort and strength is Psalm 73:25-26: “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth. My health may fail, and my spirit grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.” He’s mine!

One that became dear to me through a very overwhelming trial in my life is Zephaniah 3:17 “For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.” it jumped off the pages of my Bible as I was needing to be calmed. He allowed me to come across the particular verse at just the time I needed it. I needed my fears to be calmed and to know that he was using his love to calm me through this was powerful and something I will never forget!!

Thank you for sharing YOUR verse.
Mine is Isaiah 50:7
But the Lord God helps me;
therefore I have not been disgraced;
therefore I have set my face like a flint,
and I know that I shall not be put to shame.

My life verse and the reason for the name of my blog is
2 Corinthians 12:9 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me”
It seems like so much of my life has been learning that there is strength in my weakness, as long as I give it to God and stop trying to do it all in my own strength. Usually, we hear this verse with only the first half and I think the second half is what really gives the verse power for us. It is in giving up all to God and allowing His power to rest upon us.

My favorite verse is Romans 4:18, “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, ‘So shall your offspring be.'” Of course, you need to read on! The following verses speak of Abraham facing the fact that his body was as good as dead and that Sarah’s womb was dead. “Yet he didn’t waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God.”
This is my goal – to so overflow in hope and faith that nothing can knock me off balance. To have Abraham’s trust in the goodness of God. So this verse gives me a goal to focus on – a goal that can only be reached by the love, help, and gifting of God!

I don’t know that it’s my favorite, but the one God has me writing and reciting every week this year is 2 Tim 2:4-5. But you, be sober in all things. Endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist. Fulfill your ministry. laurensparks.net

I love reading everyone’s life verse; mine is James 4:8 draw near to God and He will draw near to you. I always come back to this. I have to draw near and He does what He will do. But I need to come close, closer. Yes this verse always pulls me in.

Hi Rachel – Thank you for sharing your verse. My life verse is, “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
I wish I could say it is because I do it so well. But instead, it is a constant reminder to STOP and quiet my heart and remember all God has done for me. I tend to be a doer. It is hard for me to sit still with God but oh so rewarding.
